prof. dr. H.H.J. Kolk (Herman)
Emeritus hoogleraar - Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour

Neuropsychologist and linguistic psychologist Herman Kolk studies linguistic disorders such as aphasia, stuttering and dyslexia. To this end, he conducts behavioural experiments and EEG studies involving test subjects.
According to Kolk, linguistic disorders are the product of decelerated language processing and control processes (strategies) that affect this processing. These strategies are used to communicate as optimally as possible, despite the disorder. Kolk investigates how people safeguard the quality of their language processing, not only while speaking, but also while understanding language.
He also investigates how people with aphasia might strengthen these control processes.
