The Kuijpers lab (www.kuijperslab.com) investigates how membrane trafficking events and organelles contribute to synapse (dys)function. Using rodent and human neuron cultures as primary model systems, we combine advanced imaging techniques and biochemistry to approach cell biological questions from multiple angles.

We currently focus on these projects:
1) Membrane trafficking processes underlying presynaptic proteostasis
2) The role and architecture of the neuronal endoplasmic reticulum (ER)
3) Early synaptic changes in Parkinson's disease
