Marij Leenders PHD (b.1957) obtained her doctorate at the University of Utrecht with a thesis on the Dutch immigration and asylum policy in the period between 1815-1938: the process of state formation and political integration served as the explanatory background. From 1997-2002 she worked as research coordinator for Amnesty International, Department refugees. From 2002 till 2014 she was employed as researcher/lecturer at the Centre for Parliamentary History Radboud University. In this period she worked on a research project - together with the German historian dr. Andreas Biefang: a comparison of the Parliamentary Public Sphere and visual culture in the Netherlands and Germany in the period 1918 till 1940 (publication see below). Since 2015 she has been working as a lecturer/reseacher at the Political History department Radboud University Nijmegen. In 2019 she finished together with dr. Eveline Koolhaas a new visual culture project about Dutch political cartoons between 1880-1919 (see publication below). In 2018 she has started developing a researchproject about Farmers, nature and stewardship.
