My research focused on the cold-adapted anammox. As a cost-effective biological nitrogen removal process in wastewater treatment, most of the anammox systems are operated under mesophilic temperatures (25-35°C). It is thus necessary to investigate the cold temperature adaption strategy and mechanism of anammox bacteria to broaden its application in the mainstream treatment and other occasions.
