My research is driven by one particular question: How can conversations – something so basic and effortless for humans – be so difficult for machines? To explore the reasons behind these, I analyze spontaneous conversations across diverse languages. I study how the nuances and complexities inherent in such conversations can be better represented in language and speech technology.
