My research is directed at the study of cognitive abilities of healthy and clinical populations, and the modifiability thereof, for example, through the instigation of learning processes. The patients include individuals suffering from autism, burnout, psychopathy, addiction, developmental language disorder, or mild cognitive impairment. The cognitive domains studied specifically involve associative learning and memory, and executive functioning. In my research, I aim to combine behavioral, physiological, and neuroimaging measures. With its focus on behavioral and physiological changes that are established as a consequence of environmental contingencies and challenges, and its coverage of both fundamental and clinical aspects, my research is well embedded within Theme 3 (Plasticity) of the Donders Institute, and contributes to the development of novel treatments for the studied patient populations.
