Professor Pieter Medendorp holds a research chair in Sensorimotor Neuroscience. His research focuses on computational and neural coupling between perception and action in health and disease, which he studies using modelling, psychophysical and neuroimaging techniques. In parallel, his integrated approach has advanced the understanding of brain–body interaction and informed the design of autonomous systems, enabling cross-pollination between neuroscience, cognition, engineering, and robotics. His research has received funding from VIDI, HFSP, VICI, ERC (Consolidator), and NWO-open competition (MAGW/SGW) grants, as well as consortium-level support from the National Science Agenda, EU-Doctoral Network, EU-FET, INTERREG, and the NWO Open Technology Program. In 2012, he was one of three receivers of the Radboud Science Award. He served as scientific director of the Donders Centre for Cognition from 2011-2020. He initiated and is responsible for the bachelor’s programme in Human Neuroscience starting in 2026.
