Michal Mochtak is a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Political Science at Radboud University. His research examines key challenges to democracy, including election-related conflicts, political violence, and contemporary authoritarianism. He also explores political discourse using advanced computational methods such as natural language processing (NLP) and deep learning. He is the author of Electoral Violence in the Western Balkans: From Voting to Fighting and Back (Routledge, 2017) and War Narratives in Post-Conflict Societies: Keeping the Past Alive in the Former Yugoslavia (Routledge, 2024). His work on electoral violence, democratization, and political conflicts has been published in leading international peer-reviewed journals, including Democratization, Party Politics, Government and Opposition, Terrorism and Political Violence, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, and the Journal of International Relations and Development.
