prof. dr. M. Oele (Marjolein)

Marjolein Oele is Professor of Philosophy of the Humanities. The Chair position she occupies is aimed at building bridges between the Faculty of PTR (Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies) and the Faculty of Arts. Oele's research intertwines Ancient Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, and Environmental Philosophy. She is the author of "Beyond Elemental Loss: Shifting Constellations of Water, Fire, Air and Earth" (SUNY, 2025) and "E-Co-Affectivity: Exploring Pathos at Life's Material Interfaces" (SUNY, 2020). She co-edited the volume "Ontologies of Nature: Continental Perspectives and Environmental Reorientations" (Springer, 2017). Her most recent research project thematizes affects in the Anthropocene. Her articles have been published in a wide range of journals, including Ancient Philosophy, Comparative & Continental Philosophy, Configurations, Environmental Philosophy, Epochê, Philosophy Today, Radical Philosophy Review, and Research in Phenomenology.
