Nidia Olvera (PhD, 2021, History, Mora Institute, Mexico) is a historian and anthropologist, specializing in the modern history of psychoactive substances and drug policies. She earned a bachelor's degree in ethnohistory at the National School of Anthropology and History and a master in social anthropology from the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology in Mexico City. She has experience as a professor in universities in Mexico, working on social research, consultancies, and at the United Nations on drug treatment programs. She is co-editor of the book "Sacred Plants in Mexico: Tradition, Religion and Ritual" and author of peer-reviewed articles on these topics. Currently, she is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the project "Poison, Medicine or Magic Potion'' in which she is researching the history of peyote.
