How do we support individuals to make better decisions and thrive, especially those facing financial hardships?
Qiyan Ong is Assistant Professor in Migrant Poverty at the Nijmegen School of Management, Department of Economics and Business Economics. She is part of the Radboud University Network on Migrant Inclusion (RUNOMI, https://www.ru.nl/runomi/).
Qiyan is a behavioral and applied economist whose research concentrates on three primary areas: 1) identifying behavioral patterns that elevate the risk of exploitation and exclusion; 2) examining factors that exacerbate these behavioral patterns and 3) developing and assessing interventions that could mitigate suboptimal behaviors. Her work has been published in leading journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) and Experimental Economics.
Previously, Qiyan was the Deputy Director of the Social Service Research Centre in the National University of Singapore, where she led many policy and program evaluation projects related to low-income households.
