My PhD research contributes to the ongoing conversation regarding the collective memory of early Christian communities by reconstructing Simon Peter's reputation within the early Christian source texts. A reconstruction of Peter's reputation, as captured in the source texts, will repair the bridge between modern readers and the early Christian communities, provide insight into the traditions and value systems of those early communities, and reestablish the prominence of the first disciple of Jesus for those on whom it has been lost.
