Assistant Professor at the Center for Urban and Regional Research, at the department of Geography, Planning and Environment at Radboud University. My background is in spatial planning and human geography (BSc), as well as in geo-information science (MSc) and landscape architecture (PhD). My primary research interests lie in the socio-political implications of how space and place are visually represented, that is, how visual representations of the planned and designed space influence participatory processes of place-making. For this, I engage in theories of visual and social semiotics, drawing on works of Peirce, Eco, and Baudrillard.
