Ina Radtke’s research operates at the intersection of organizational theory and critical social analysis. Her work focuses on the link between democratic legitimacy and transformation of public organizations, with a particular interest in the tension between system logics and individual as well as collective integrity. She investigates how institutionalized power structures and socio-economic rationalities shape both the internal constitution and the external governance of the state. Her research is driven by a normative interest in collective emancipation: How can we rethink public institutions and political collectives to foster relational resonance and substantive responsiveness? She analyzes public administrations as a site of political struggle where democratic values, professional identity, and transformative agency of heterogeneous publics are constantly negotiated.
Her research agenda rests on three pillars of policy analysis, governance dynamics, and government structures:
Migration & Integration: Analyzing the responsiveness and mechanisms of exclusion and inclusion in a post-migrant state.
Governance Dynamics: Exploring how technological and procedural developments impact institutional power and the potential for collective emancipation.
Democratic Anchorage: Investigating the institutional preconditions for resonant and integer politico-administrative systems.
