Matthias Rosenbaum-Feldbrügge holds a BA degree in Philosophy & Economics from Bayreuth University (Germany), a MSc degree in Economic Demography from Lund University, Sweden, and a PhD in Historical Demography from Radboud University (2016-2020). In his interdisciplinary PhD thesis titled "Dealing with Demographic Stress in Childhood: Parental Death and the Transition to Adulthood in the Netherlands, 1850-1940", he studied quantitatively how families and children responded to parental death and under which circumstances this potential threat to well-being was most harmful and disruptive. Between 2020 and 2022 he worked as a postdoctoral research felllow for the German Federal Institute for Population Research, where he studied, among others, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on internal migration in Germany. Currently, he is involved in the construction of the Historical Database Suriname and Curacao which aims to make lifecourses of all inhabitants of Suriname and Curacao from about 1830 to 1950 available in one large demographic database. Matthias has published in demographic journals such as "Demography", "European Journal of Population", "Population, Space, and Place", "The History of the Family", and "Demographic Research", and likes life-course analysis and bear's garlic.
