In my research project, I delve into fish welfare concepts and practices used across aquaculture, experimental labs and zoos or aquariums. I hope to learn more about how various stakeholders conceptualize welfare in fish, about the roots and diversity of fish welfare practices in different (scientific) communities, and to bring attention to a group of species that used to be overlooked within animal welfare science. Previously, I have studied how scientists justify their choice of animal model(s) in the field of xenotransplantation and how (non)epistemic factors influence this choice.
