Socio-cultural anthropologist specializing in the anthropology of religion. Areas of research include Armenian Christianity, Oriental Orthodox Christianity, Orthodox Christianity, Armenians in Turkey, religion and secularism in Turkey, religious minority rights, diaspora and migration, minority religious life in diaspora, liturgy, hermeneutics, sensory and embodied aspects of minority life, tradition. Teaching experience includes courses on social science theory, anthropological methods, ritual and liturgy, and Armenians in the Ottoman Empire and Turkey. Working research languages include Western, Eastern, and Classical Armenian, and Turkish.
