Siem Smeets is a PhD Candidate & Junior Lecturer at the department of Economics within the chair of Business Economics. He is working within the field of experimental health economics and researches how uncertainty and financial incentives affect physician decision-making. He aims to find when and why physicians perform low-value treatments, overdiagnosis, and overtreatment to inform policymakers on targeted applications.
He obtained a double bachelors degree in Business Administration and Economics and Business Economics from Radboud University, after which he obtained a master in Economics with the specialization Economics, Behaviour, and Policy at the same university.
As a teacher, Siem teaches various bachelor courses such as Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Financial Accounting & Reporting, and Introduction to Economics & Business Economics.
