- Neural mechanisms supporting learning and memory: The brain networks involved in acquisition and retrieval of learned information, different approaches in capturing the underlying neural mechanisms. - Memory consolidation: How brain networks for retrieving encoded information changes as a function of time, and the factors that influence different trajectories (e.g. emotionality, sleep, richness of information at encoding, relevance, schema). - Sleep research: How sleep influences the neural coding for information learned prior to sleep, how different sleep stages can affect offline consolidation, how memory replay can be induced during sleep and the consequence thereafter, the underlying process reflected in specific phenomena of sleep as observed in EEG signatures such as slow oscillations, spindles. - Word acquisition: How we acquire new information related to language, how learning is reflected in the neural network, behavioural and neural activity changes as a function of training, the effect of multimodal learning, restudy and testing effects of training.
