Dr Sarah Thin is an Assistant Professor in International and European Law at the Department of International and European Law. She is a member of the Research Centre for State and Law (SteR).

Dr Thin specialises in public international law, in particular state responsibility, international environmental law, human rights, and the law of international courts and tribunals. She completed her PhD at Maastricht University in October 2022, and holds an LLB from the University of Durham (UK) and an LLM from the University of Nottingham (UK).

During her time in Maastricht, Dr Thin set up the Maastricht Study Group for Critical Approaches to International Law and, through this group, organised a number of research and educational events on the topic of critical approaches. She coordinated and hosted the Let's Talk Human Rights video and podcast series with the Maastricht Centre for Human Rights.

She has also volunteered with a number of human rights and environmental organisations, including Fossielvrij NL and Amnesty International.

She is currently the Managing Editor of the Hague Yearbook of International Law.

Dr Thin has extensive experience in supervising bachelor and masters theses in varied topics of international law. She is an experienced teacher in international and European law.
