I am a plant macroecologist interested in the distribution of plant life on earth, particularly at large spatial scales and across oceanic islands. I create workflows and large databases of plant distributions and functional traits to study past and present drivers of today’s plant diversity and its redistribution in the Anthropocene. My research examines how environmental factors, biotic interactions and human activities affect the taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic composition of plant assemblages. A key research question I explore is how floras change from regional to global scales due to climate and land use change and introduced species.
