Gerry Alons presents findings from Comenius Teaching Fellowship

Date of news: 9 November 2022

Gerry Alons presents findings from Comenius Teaching Fellowship – and you can get access to her simulation materials!

In 2020, Gerry Alons received a Comenius Teaching Fellowship for the project: 'A double-edged sword: teaching-related professional orientation in the Bachelor of Political Science'. In this project, she integrated education-related professional orientation for students with professionalisation for Social Studies teachers.

Through collaboration in educational research labs - an elective for students and a mini-course for teachers - participants developed a range of lesson designs. 23 of the lesson designs were brought together in a volume when the project concluded in 2022, under the main themes of climate, domestic politics, and international politics. What does climate justice mean in practice; Do you engage in political participation; and, How exactly do EU institutions work?

As part of 'learning by experiencing', the volume includes simulations for negotiations on a climate agreement and on the minimum wage. You can download a pdf of the bundle via this link (pdf, 5,1 MB).

A limited number of hardcopies is also available. Please contact gerry.alons@ru.nlin case of interest. We hope these lesson designs will be an inspiration for Social Studies/Social Studies teachers.
