Newsletter 2: From Hora Est to Hora Finita
February 2019
Radboud University aims at high quality supervision and close monitoring of progress of PhD candidates. A PhD system that supports our needs in this aim is crucial. It has been decided to start using a new PhD system in 2020: Hora Finita. In this newsletter we will inform you about this new system and give you an update about the process of the implementation of Hora Finita.
Update
Lots of users of Hora Est and PhDTRACK have participated in consultation sessions and provided feedback about the processes to be supported by Hora Finita. Also we have made an inventory of possible improvements of current workflows. The new system offers an opportunity to implement (even) more efficient workflows and to make things easier for those concerned. We would like everyone to benefit from this!
A draft of the list of requirements we would like from the new system is now available.
State of affairs
Since this month we have an empty Hora Finita and we have started to set up the system. We are going to set it up in the best possible way, test it and compare its possibilities with our requirements. In this way we can make a well-founded decision about what exactly we want the supplier to deliver. We expect to be able to show you a preview of the new environment in April: you will receive an invitation for a demonstration.
Next steps
During the following phase of implementation new functionalities will be incorporated, the system will be connected to other concern systems and the data from Hora Est, Hora Est PhD and PhDTRACK will be imported into Hora Finita. We expect this to take a considerable amount of time. Once again we will then ask quite a lot of users to test certain functionalities.
