Newsletter 3: From Hora Est to Hora Finita

Radboud University aims at high quality supervision and close monitoring of progress or PhD candidates. A PhD system that supports our needs in this aim is crucial. It has been decided to start using a new PhD system in 2020: Hora Finita . In this newsletter we will inform you about this new system and give you an update about the process of the implementation of Hora Finita.
Update
Input from our Hora Est and PhD TRACK users and Radboud University's knowledge about Hora Est has been a great help in producing a fit gap analysis. In this analysis Hora Est and Hora Finita functionalities have been compared. It is concluded that Hora Finita fits well to Radboud University's needs. By and large we want a benefit from Hora Finita because of its multiple support or workflows. For some units of the PhD trajectory we will now engage in a procedure with the supplier to ensure a good fit and appropriate level or support comparable to Hora Est PhD.
The demonstration session Hora Finita on April 23 rd was well-attended. Graduate School coordinators, supervisors, PhDs and many others received a preview of the new environment and posed their questions. If we receive enough signs of interest we will gladly organize another demonstration!
State of affairs
We are now starting the process of actually purchasing Hora Finita. This will probably take a few months' time; also because of the summer holidays now coming up. Further implementation is planned for the autumn. As mentioned previously this is about connecting the new system to other concern systems and importing the data from Hora Est, Hora Est PhD and PhDTRACK into Hora Finita. We expect this to take a considerable amount of time. Once again we will then ask quite a lot of users to test certain functionalities .
