Newsletter 5: From Hora Est to Hora Finita

Radboud University aims at high quality supervision and close monitoring of progress of PhD candidates. A PhD system that supports our needs in this aim is crucial. It has been decided to start using a new PhD system: Hora Finita. In this newsletter we will inform you about this new system and give you an update about the process of the implementation of Hora Finita.

Update:

The supplier of Hora Finita is busy getting the extra functionalities Radboud University has asked for in place. And to create connections to our systems. For example to connect to our Business Management System (RBS). On our side we have to create our connections. All of this work has started in January with a deadline on April 1st.

Obviously we would like to start to test the new system in the next quarter with our users. Unfortunately we will have to wait until live sessions with key users are possible again. In the meanwhile Hora Est data are being cleared and some preliminary testing work can be done.

During this first quarter we have also spoken to representatives of research institutions and Graduate Schools about their plans for switching from Hora Est to Hora Finita and what it takes for a smooth transition. Some more meetings are still due. We can offer tailor-made support for the transition: instruction manuals, lunch time meetings, training sessions, demonstrations and information meetings are examples of the kind of activities that have been asked for.

Many of you have asked for a demonstration meeting. We will organize it as soon as possible and are considering to create a video with a preview. Due to the circumstances we have to ask you to be patient. We will keep you informed!
