The master specialisation Particle and Astrophysics consists of

A. Particle and Astrophysics, mandatory courses 15 EC
B. Particle and Astrophysics, elective courses 25 EC
C. Master Thesis Physics and Astronomy 60 EC
D. Professional Preparation 1 EC
E. Philosophy 3 EC
F. Free electives 16 EC

Note: In order to create a coherent programme that prepares you for a Master's thesis contact the coordinator of your field of interest with the first few weeks of enrollment:

A. Mandatory Programme (15 EC)

Common courses of the Particle and Astrophysics specialisation:

First Semester Second Semester
Cosmology (9 EC) Student Seminar Particle and Astrophysics (3 EC)
Electrodynamics (3 EC) (1st Quarter)

B. Particle and Astrophysics Electives (25 EC)

Elective courses should be chosen in consultation with the prospective supervisor or the coordinator of the master specialisation. Note that the selected electives should add up to a minimum total of 25 EC.

  • Free electives can be chosen from other master specialisations or programmes, not necessarily within Physics and Astronomy. Of these free electives, 10 EC have to be approved by the Examination Board.
