Enrolment Procedure for Courses, Examinations and Resits

PLEASE NOTE: The Faculty of Social Sciences' course regulations differ from the Faculty of Science course regulations!

Enrolment in (and possible withdrawel from) courses and examinations should be done through the Student Portal:https://student.ru.nl/home.

For Faculty of Social Science courses: Enrolment via the Student Portal is compulsory for all courses, practicals, tutorials and so on and can be done for the whole semester at once. If a course's tutorials are not listed on the Student Portal then the information can be found on Blackboard. When you are enrolled in a course then you are also automatically registered to sit the examination. You can enrol in a course up to two weeks after it has commenced. If you're only going to take the examination, you must still be enrolled in the course in order to gain access to the course's Blackboard site. Once the application deadline has passed you can request to enrol in a course via the educational service point (OSP - still in Dutch). This can be done up to five days before the course's examination takes place. Withdrawal from examinations and courses is compulsory where a student has already enrolled but does not plan to participate. Any student who has failed to withdraw will be awarded an examination mark of 0. Students who wishes to resit an examination must enrol separately via the Student Portal. Students may not resit an examination more than twice for the same course. Any student who wishes to resit the examination a third time may only do so once permission has been granted by the Examination Board.

For Faculty of Science courses: Enrolment is possible via the Student Portal up to five working days before the commencement of the course. Separate enrolment via the Student Portal is necessary for each examination up to five working days before the examination takes place. Enrolment for an examination counts as participation, unless you withdraw before the examination date (via the Student Portal). Students may not resit an examination more than twice for the same course. Any student who wishes to resit the examination a third time may only do so once permission has been granted by the Examination Board.
