GSV (Historical Students Association)
The days at college are rightly called the most beautiful time of your life. Next to interesting studies, there is time for all kinds of lively and exciting activities. Within the study programme of History, this part is filled in by the ‘Geschiedenis Studenten Vereniging Excalibur’ (Historical Students Association Excalibur’, GSV in short. The GSV is an association for every history student and it organises activities which ease both the studies and life. There is a healthy mix of formal and more informal activities. For instance, the GSV organises readings, pub lectures and a congress, but also get-togethers, sports events and parties. Furthermore, the GSV organises annual travels and weekend getaways to, for instance, Istanbul, Prague, Belgrade and several other places. There are also activities for first year students, to get to know both each other and the organisation better. In addition, the GSV cooperates with teachers to improve the education, the GSV organises an annual book sale (with reductions) and it publishes is own association magazine: HInT. It is up to you whether you want to join the GSV; it offers you a lot of possibilities, but no activities are mandatory.
