Admission procedures, deadlines and scholarships
You can enter the Research Master programme either in the autumn semester (September) or in the spring semester (February). Make sure you apply by May 1 at the latest if you wish to be admitted in September, and by November 15 at the latest, if you wish to be admitted in February. If you want to apply for fellowships and visas and/or seek housing in Nijmegen, you must start your application procedure earlier. For a list of available scholarships, please visit our website for future students.
If you wish to be admitted to the Research Master programme please first contact the coordinator of the programme, Prof. Carla Rita Palmerino (c.palmerino@ftr.ru.nl), and, at a later stage, the professor under whose guidance you wish to specialise.
For admission, you need to submit a variety of documents:
- A letter of motivation, in which you specify why you wish to enrol in the programme and your chosen area of specialisation.
- A curriculum vitae.
- A certified copy of your BA diploma (or equivalent) and your academic record, which lists the philosophy courses that you took and the credits and grades you obtained for them.
- A certified diploma or equivalent documenting English skills at the level required by the programme.
- A writing sample (essay, paper or Bachelor's thesis) on a philosophical topic.
You will be granted full admission once:
- a supervisor has been found for you;
- the Examination Board has given clearance;
- the Admission Committee for the Research Master has advised in favour of admission. The Admission Committee consists of the Chair of the chosen specialisation and the Programme Coordinator.
