Educational components
The programme consists of several types of courses and educational components:
- (Compulsory) theoretical courses
- Research internships
- Elective courses
Theoretical courses:
These courses may consist of distinct forms of tuition: lectures and demonstrations, discussions, enquiry-based projects, communication skills training and the research training period. The descriptions of the theoretical courses are found in the List of MMD courses.
Research training periods:
The programme includes two research training periods, in which the student conducts research under the supervision of a scientist. The research training periods are concluded with a full report (MMP1, 1st research training) or report in the form of a scientific article (MMP2A or MMP2B, 2nd research training). The work plans for the research training periods must be approved by the Board of Examiners before the start of the training period. The research internships are supervised by a research training period supervisor. The report or scientific article is assessed by an external assessor.
Elective courses:
Elective courses may be either theoretical or practical courses, which the student uses to specialise himself/herself. Elective courses must be approved by the Board of Examiners as part of the study plan preferably before the start of the course.
