Special Faculty of Theology

Radboud University is the result of an emancipation process of Roman Catholics in The Netherlands in the beginning of the last century. Dutch Catholics sought to promote the emancipation of Roman Catholics in the Netherlands, who at that time were strongly underrepresented in public administration, the legal profession, medicine and other sectors.

The Faculty of Theology at Radboud practices theology from the perspective of emancipation as a means to acknowledge its background and history. It seeks to train theologians who think for themselves, are faithful to the rich heritage of the Christian tradition (through the Biblical Exegesis and History of Church and Theology programs) and are conscientious to the faith experience of the worldwide Christian community (through the Systematic and Practical Theology programs).
