Courses for national government

How do I make sure that I negotiate interculturally as a government official?

If you work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, you need to possess intercultural skills. That makes sense, you would say. After all, it’s the ministry that runs our embassies and plays an important role in international affairs. Nevertheless, intercultural competencies are also important for officials of, for instance, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Justice and Security. Our safety is an international affair. Think about the various peacekeeping missions and terrorist threats. But also officials of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy are working across borders. The climate does not stay within the borders of the country and the Netherlands, as an export country, has large interests regarding international business. Because of the increasing internationalisation in higher education and the increasing diversity within the classroom, a vision on intercultural education is also an item of importance for the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. And what about the increasingly interdisciplinary collaboration between the different ministries? This is also of increasing importance for the Dutch national government. Ministries are literally merged together into one building. All in all, negotiating interculturally is a must for the contemporary government official.
