Effective use of online tools in language teaching

You know the tools, have tried out the apps, and have reviewed the blended learning and flipped classroom lesson plans. However, actively engaging with and using these effectively still needs some work.

Why are we so interested in using these tools in our teaching and how do we avoid falling for “the $1000 pencil” – investing in tools that don’t offer a significantly better learning experience.

Target group

Language teachers who already have some experience with using online resources in the classroom, and are familiar with the concepts of ‘The Flipped Classroom’ and Blended learning.

Programme content

This workshop is recommended as a follow-up to the "Online Tools in Language Education" workshop.

The use of web applications provides access to new learning methods. This workshop takes your existing knowledge and teaches you how to work effectively by:

  • Learning how to apply tools to specific learning activities
  • Critically measuring the effectiveness and value of a tool as part of ongoing learning or for specific learning tasks
  • Promoting and enabling students to take autonomy of and responsibility for their own learning
  • Creating learning environments that support learning communities in the classroom

Follow-up workshop: Reflection on Your Online Tools

This workshop replicates a critical thinking classroom, in which participants are encouraged to share ideas and opinions whilst using the tools. This workshop is given in English.
