Prof. Benno Roozendaal
Benno Roozendaal is Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience at the Department of Cognitive Neuroscience, Radboudumc and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour at Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
Roozendaal received his PhD at the University of Groningen in 1992. Between 1993 and 2008 he had a position at the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, University of California, Irvine.
His research is focused on understanding the role of stress hormones and emotional arousal on brain systems regulating memory consolidation, memory retrieval and working memory and their possible consequences for traumatic memories and post-traumatic stress disorder.
He received the Curt P. Richter Award from the International Society for Psychoneuroendocrinology. He is associate editor of Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience and serves on the editorial boards of the journals Stress, and Psychoneuroendocrinology.
