The Qualitative Interviewing – experts course equips you with critical knowledge and advanced practical skills in interview design, fieldwork preparation strategies, techniques in conducting interviews, data management and ethical sensibility; all essential for cutting-edge interviewing of experts as key agents of knowledge generation in social research.
A unique feature of the course is its emphasis on application of knowledge to different interview situations and practical training in designing and conducting expert interviews. The course teaches you how to generate valuable knowledge through reconstruction of (latent) meanings and how to mitigate quality risks, including biased generation, misrepresentation and undertheorisation of data.

Admission requirements
  • General knowledge and understanding of ontological, epistemological and methodological underpinnings of qualitative research.
  • Good command of digital recorders/players/apps and word processor software.
  • Basic understanding of qualitative data analysis.
  • The emphasis of this course is on data generation practice and skills, so it is recommended (but not essential) for participants to bring a specific research project to the course.
