The ERC encourages host institutions to cover open access fees for any research publications that are supported in whole, or in part, by ERC funding, and that arise within 24 months of the end of the project.

Sharing & accessing data

The European Research Council supports the basic principle of open access to research data, and recommends that all of the researchers to whom it has provided funding retain all the research data they have used during the course of their work, and that they be prepared to share them with other researchers as long as copyright restrictions, confidentiality agreements, and contractual clauses do not impose restrictions.

Ethical issues

When you are applying for funding, it is important to explicitly address issues that arise from the ethics self-assessment in a (preliminary) data management plan (DMP), such as: secure storage of and access to sensitive or critical data; anonymisation of personal data; and acquiring informed consent.
