Data Management Paragraph

For every new research project, a brief data management paragraph will be included in the research plan, that describes how to handle research data that will be produced or gathered in the course of the project.

The data paragraph should, at a minimum, contain the following parts (in Dutch):

  • Digital sustainability: an indication of whether research data is to be stored sustainable and if so, how and over what time
Where: the data repository has to meet certain general standards, such as the Data Seal of Approval
When: preferably, data will be stored as soon as the dataset is complete, but in any case as soon as the research is completed
  • Open access: indicate when the research data will be made available via open access or, if they will not be made publicly available, why not. If access to the data is to be restricted, this section should outline those restrictions
When: preferably, as soon as the data are deposited. An embargo of up to 18 months after completion of the research is possible
  • Metadata: if the metadata are not made publicly available, this section should indicate why
Data Management Plan

The Academy makes use of data memoranda: documents that outline institutional policies on open access and on the digital sustainability of data at the level of the institute. If researchers manage their data in accordance with the data memorandum issues by their institute, it suffices to refer to that memorandum. Radboud University researchers may refer to the Radboud University RDM policy.

Archiving data

The data repository must meet certain general standards, such as those of the Data Seal of Approval.

Preferably, data will be stored as soon as the dataset is complete, but in any case as soon as the research is completed.

Preferably, research data will be made available via open access as soon as they have been deposited. An embargo of up to 18 months after completion of the research is possible.
