More questions than answers?

The negotiations for a post-Brexit agreement are an ongoing, nerve-racking process, as so far, it has been highly unpredictable. Yet, the process is bound to have a huge impact on most aspects of the cooperation between the EU and UK, including citizens’ rights, border control and trade. We are currently approaching the end of the official transition period. The month of October will be decisive for guaranteeing compliance with the Withdrawal Agreement and agreeing on a future cooperation model. Two years ago, the Centre for Migration Law of Radboud University Nijmegen wrote a report for the European Parliament on Brexit and Migration. We now invite you to a webinar on the imminent conclusion of the post-Brexit negotiations. In this event, an exchange of views will take place with a selection of legal scholars and insiders on the current state of play, also discussing the implications of possible future cooperation models.

  • Kati Piri (Member of the European Parliament, co-rapporteur on Brexit):
    State of play and perspectives
  • Elspeth Guild (Jean Monnet Professor, Queen Mary University London):
Brexit seen from Britain: the evolving national framework for EU citizens in the UK
  • Angelina Eichhorst (Managing Director, European External Action Service):
    What future cooperation models?
  • Henri de Waele (Professor of International and European Law, Radboud University and University of Antwerp):
Future models of cooperation & the role of the Court of Justice

  • Tineke Strik (Professor of Citizenship and Migration Law, Radboud University, Member of the European Parliament)
  • Paul Minderhoud (Professor of Migration Law, Radboud University and University Utrecht)
