Welcome to Categories Contested

Established in 2016, this research group at the Radboud University brings together cultural historians, gender studies experts and socio-economic and demographic historians. Their aim is to get a better historical understanding of how stereotypical and contested categories solidified and transformed into ‘real’ social and cultural groups.
