Shabab Akwa – stronger youth
The Shabab Akwa project (2020-2021) is an initiative aimed at empowerment of self-management and care seeking behavior for refugee children’s stress-related health problems.
The Shabab Akwa project took place at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. It was launched in January 2020 and ran until May 2022.
The project was led by professor dr. Maria van den Muijsenbergh, and carried out by researchers A.M.C.H. de Klein and G. Haj Bakri. Funding for the project was provided by the Hestia program's "Impulse for Refugees in Science" from NWO.
