This project aims to improve our understanding of biological mechanisms underpinning neurodevelopmental aspects in Mendelian syndromes especially molecular, psychiatric, cognitive and linguistic profiles. Tailored intervention strategies targeted at the severe speech/language, behavior and psychiatric problems that are frequently encountered will be developed. Public health regulations and legislation will be reevaluated and revised to further develop societal embedding of optimal care for these complex set of disorders. From the Donders Institute Sharon Kolk, Tjitske Kleefstra, Hans van Bokhoven, Simon Fisher, Jos Egger and Wouter Staal will collaborate with various faculties and institutes.
