Roadmap 2020

The uNMR-NL consortium has been awarded 17,9 million euros for the development of advanced instrumentation and new experimental techniques. The Magnetic Resonance Research Center within the Institute for Molecules and Materials (IMM) at Radboud University takes part in this consortium. The coordinator of the national roadmap is Utrecht University. The grant is part of The National Roadmap for Large-Scale Research Facilities of the Dutch Research Council (NWO) which enables establishing and/or upgrading of research facilities with international allure.

Arno Kentgens:  “We are extremely pleased to receive this grant. It is a tremendous boost for NMR research on a national level and will intensify collaborations with our colleagues in Utrecht, Leiden and Wageningen and TI-COAST. For Nijmegen this grant implies that we will become part of the "core" facility with the housing of the uNMR-NL 950 MHz spectrometer. In addition, our existing high field solid state NMR spectrometers will be equipped with new consoles. Finally, new probeheads for materials research will become available. This not only extends measuring capacity for academic and industrial users, but also significantly extends the application areas of NMR. Finally, it gives an important impulse to our own research that, in addition to the applications in materials research and the analysis of complex mixtures, is aimed at developing novel NMR methodology to further increase the sensitivity and information content of NMR spectra in order to extend their applicability even further.”
