Research
Arjan ter Horst is a postdoc in the group of Pieter Medendorp as of October 2012. Before that, he worked as PhD at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour in Nijmegen, the Netherlands under supervision of Bert Steenbergen. The thesis’ topic was about different factors influencing motor imagery. He pursued studies in Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at the Hogeschool Enschede and the University of Twente, respectively.
Arjan’s research interests can be summarized as on how different sensory modalities are combined in order to obtain an estimate of one’s current position or heading direction. He will use a Bayesian approach to obtain a statistical model of cue integration. Within the lab he will combine vestibular and visual stimulations using a vestibular sled and stereoscopic stimulus projections, respectively.
