Quality Care and Evaluation

The quality of the Master's programmes is monitored and improved in several different ways. Students, lecturers, the Master’s programme coordinators and the Programme Committees all play an important role here.

Evaluation
Quality assurance involves the use of the following evaluation tools:

• Course evaluations: once every three years (and more often if necessary), each course is critically examined by means of an online questionnaire, which is distributed among participating students. The results of the course evaluation are published in the Evalytics portal.
• Teacher’s Report: the lecturer draws up a so-called Teacher’s Report, which is partially based on the course evaluation and discussed in the Programme Committee.
• Programme Committee: this body advises the Director of Education on the quality of the course and the possible quality improvements that can be made on the basis of the Teacher’s Report and the course evaluation.
• Examining Board: this board monitors the quality of the programme’s most important component, namely assessment and appraisal.
• National Student Survey (NSS): in this survey, a comparison of all the Psychology programmes in the Netherlands is made, based on student evaluations.

Improvements

Of course the main thing to remember is that evaluation helps! On the basis of the evaluations, the Director of Education, the Programme Committee and the Bachelor's and Master's coordinators make agreements about the ways in which improvements can be made. These usually involve small improvements like using a different book or assessment method. But sometimes it may involve larger improvement projects.
