V.I.G.
Assignment: Develop a vibrotactile signal with a fixed frequency and amplitude to use in a fMRI scannner. The VIG generates a vibrotactile signal. This signal is used to replace the muscletension signal. The subject of experimentation senses a movement of the arm, but physical this is not happening. The illusion is a fact. The experimentator uses Presentation software to control the VIG. The signal (pulsating pressurized air) that is being generated by a pneumatic device, is transported over 5 meters airtubing. This gives us the opportunity to bring the signal into the bore of a fMRI scanner. |
