Education Award 2020 for Alex Khajetoorians

Alex Khajetoorians, head of the Scanning Probe Microscopy group within the Institute of Molecules and Materials (IMM) of Radboud University, has been awarded the Education Award 2020 Faculty of Science for senior lecturer. Every year, the Faculty Board grants these awards for lecturers - one senior and one junior- who have proven to provide exceptional education. Winners of the award distinguish themselves by their commitment to the education process and their students, and their continued devotion to improve education. The award was granted during the online New Year gathering on January 4th 2021. “I am honored and touched to receive this award. Being involved in education in the faculty has been one of the most rewarded aspects of my career, and I’d like to thank everyone for this recognition”, Khajetoorians says.

Drive & enthusiasm

The Education Award of the faculty of Science consists of two categories: the prize for the best junior lecturer and the prize for the best senior lecturer. For each category, three persons are nominated. The jury described Khajetoorians as a motivated and enthusiastic teacher. Above that, he has contributed to important developments and improvements in the education in physics and astronomy. “Khajetoorians really deserves this award”, the jury reports. Khajetoorians reacts: “I would like to thank all my colleagues and especially the students.”

Wall of Fame

The winners will be displayed on the Wall of Fame, which is located in the restaurant of the Faculty of Science. The award jury consists of members of the Faculty Board, a student and an external member.
