Sports offer 60+

At the Radboud Sports centre we offer various classes especially for 60+ athletes. This age limit is not absolute, the main difference with the regular classes is that the intensity, pace and difficulty of the 60+ classes is lower than in the regular lessons. We offer 9 different sports classes, of which 5 sports are offered as ticket hours and 4 sports are offered as a course.

Ticket hours

Ticket hours are stand-alone classes; you must book a ticket in advance for the class you wish to participate in. You can reserve tickets via our website or the RSC app. Before the class starts you can print your ticket opposite the RSC desk. You need both this ticket and your membership card to join a class. Non-student members can reserve tickets from eight days in advance, with a maximum of three reservations at a time. Beware that 'full is full' applies to all ticket hours.

Body Workout 60+
Body Workout is a workout to music that focuses especially on strengthening various muscle groups. This class does not include jumping. Muscle strengthening is preceded by a general warm-up session. Various materials can be used, such as weights, dynabands and body bars.

Fitness 60+
After a collective warm-up training, we get to work to improve your endurance and to strengthen your muscles. At the end of the training there is room for relaxation and we conclude the workout together.

Latin Mix 60+
A fitness workout based on Latin American dance styles. Think of salsa, bachata, reggaeton, dancehall and more. Of course there is also room for other dance styles such as hip hop. Latin mix is participating, enjoying yourself and easy to follow for everyone.  Latin mix 60+ is easier to follow than the regular Latin mix, with more explanation of steps and a lower pace.

Pilates 60+
Pilates is a Body & Mind class, which focuses on stability exercises for the torso, pelvis and shoulders. Starting with a correct posture and proper breathing, the exercises are carried out accurately and with attention to detail. This conscious movement from within is combined with high concentration and self-control. Regularly taking part in Pilates sessions will improve your stability, flexibility, posture, physical awareness and more. The main focus of Pilates is on the quality of movement.

Courses

A Course consists of a series of classes that are built op. The RSC sports season is divided into five terms. You can register for courses every term via our website or the RSC app. Non-student members can register online for one course from eighteen days before the start of the course term. One week after your first registration you can register for a second course and a week after that for a third. During the registration period applies: first come, first served and full is full. If the courses have started and there are still places left, you can still register for several courses. Once the courses have started, everyone is free to apply for more courses, subject to availability.

Strength training 60+
Aging is accompanied by a loss of muscle mass and that is why strength training is so important for 60+ athletes. Improve or maintain your strength, muscle mass and vitality. After a mobilizing warm-up, you will get started with the most important free weight exercises. The goal is to teach the exercises technically well. Among other things, you learn squats, dead lifts and bench presses by using kettlebells and the barbell, followed by ground exercises and a cool down. The course is suitable for anyone who wants to train well with free weights. In addition, this course is also interesting for athletes who, for example, want to learn certain exercises well from a physiotherapeutic point of view.

Exercise and play 60+
During this course you train your whole body, but the focus is on exercising with pleasure. In this varied course you work in a group in a large multi room and various materials are used. In addition to fitness and strength, you focus on improving posture, mobility, stability and coordination. In this course we use different forms of play.

Tennis 60+
Have you never played tennis before, or do you have more experience, but you want to play tennis with your peers, then this is the right course for you! A lot of attention is paid to playing rallies and to ball treatment (ball feeling) with your racket. All strokes are covered! Work is also being done on competition rules, tactics and conditional and technical aspects of singles and doubles. This course is the first 60+ course in which you work with game elements. Fun is paramount, where you can play matches against and with each other at your own level. It is important that you are present as much as possible during the course.

Yoga Hatha 60+
Hatha Yoga is a classic, original form of yoga and the first yoga to be widely known outside India. In Sanskrit, ha means sun and tha means moon. The sun stands for action, the moon for stillness. In Hatha yoga, Asanas and Pranayamas are linked. This brings together opposites, such as rest / effort or mind / body. You become more harmonious, more ‘whole’. It's about connecting with yourself and everything around you. You get in touch with yourself and your mind comes to rest.
