Open Space for Meditation on Friday
An invitation to all meditating people, beginners in meditation, and those who would like to try…
From March on, there will be an Open Space for Meditation for all students of RU and HAN, regardless of your prior experience. The idea is, to support us students in our meditation practice and our well-being: We can use the provided place to retreat from our often-stressful university week, and enjoy a little space of peace and recovery.
When?
In this pilot phase, the meetings take place (almost) every Friday from 14:00 till 14:45 in March and April. After that, more meetings might be possible. No signing in – just walk in.
Open space for meditation at 10th March (starts exceptionally later that day: 15:00 – 15:45)
Where?
Erasmuslaan 9a, in the Studentenkerk, in a wonderful Meditation Room, equipped with fancy meditation pillows and carpet flooring.
Structure and moderation
The meetings are planned as “Open Spaces”, which means that you can walk-in anytime, any week. However, since it can be a quite intimate and even religious practice, thus we ask you to treat one another with respect and care. So, it would be nice if we managed to come together in the first 15 minutes of the meetings and then ended up with a cozy and protected atmosphere.
“Open Space” means also that you are free to practice in our own way. You can follow the offered guided meditation together with others, or just “do our own thing” in silence. After the meetings, the living room in the Studentenkerk can be a place to exchange our experiences or just to have a chat.
The meetings are moderated in English by Benedikt Meyer, a fellow psychology student, in cooperation with one of the student chaplains. Benedikt has gained experience in meditation over the past years and is enthusiastic about the many benefits of meditating together with other people.
