Bachelorstage

De Bacheloropleiding wordt afgerond met een onderzoeksstage en de cursus Bachelor Writing (zie: MED-B3WR). De onderzoeksstage heeft een studielast van 27 EC.

Alle studenten presenteren hun stage op de stage-afdeling en - ofwel mondeling of via een poster - tijdens het Bachelorcongres (in de eerste week van juli) voor eerste- en tweedejaars studenten BMW.

Om de stageperiode voldoende impact te geven moet voldaan worden aan de volgende randvoorwaarden:

1. De student regelt zelf de Bachelorstage en dient de coach te informeren over de voortgang.
2. De student beschrijft in samenwerking met de stageverlenende afdeling het onderzoeksvoorstel (1/2 A4), waarin aangegeven: de titel, een korte inhoudelijke beschrijving van het uit te voeren onderzoek en de te gebruiken analysetechnieken. De examencommissie beoordeelt de omschrijving van de stage.
3. De student voert het onderzoek uit onder de (dagelijkse) begeleiding van de onderzoeker. De student maakt een eindverslag en geeft hierover een mondelinge presentatie. De stagebegeleider(gepromoveerd onderzoeker) beoordeelt de stage (uitvoering onderzoek en mondelinge presentatie, 50% van het eindcijfer) en het eindverslag (20% van het eindcijfer) en rapporteert hierover naar de examencommissie.
4. Het eindverslag wordt daarnaast beoordeeld door een tweede onafhankelijk beoordelaar (30% van het eindcijfer).
5. Een administratief coördinator vanuit de Radboudumc Health Academy voert een plagiaatcheck uit, bepaalt het eindcijfer op basis van de beoordelingen en geeft het eindcijfer door aan de examencommissie en de afdeling Ondersteuning Academische Opleidingen, OAO. Wanneer de beoordelingen van de 1e en 2e beoordelaar meer dan 1,5 punt van elkaar verschillen wordt er een derde beoordelaar ingeschakeld.
6. De examencommissie controleert achteraf steeksproefsgewijs de kwaliteit van de beoordeelde Bachelorstages.

Doelstellingen bachelorstage

The student:

1. Is able to explain the goal and the relevance of the research project.
2. Is able to systematically review the literature and on this basis identify relevant information.
3. Is able, under supervision, to formulate a hypothesis that is in line with prior knowledge and translate this into a relevant research question.
4. Can, under supervision, develop an appropriate study design involving an experimental approach to answering the research question.
5. Is able, under supervision, to plan, organize, and perform an empirical/experimental study.
6. Is able to employ the experimental techniques necessary to obtain relevant data (if applicable).
7. Is able to analyse data systematically and interpret them in view of prior knowledge of working mechanisms involved.
8. Demonstrates punctuality in presence, participates well, and shows commitment.
9. Is able to work with persons enrolled in the study respectfully and productively (if applicable).
10. Conducts him-/herself properly in contact with other persons involved, particularly when it comes to teamwork and approaching stakeholders.
11. Improves on independence, analytical skills, and problem solving capacities.
12. Is able to give a brief oral presentation (in English) on his/her work and discuss his/her findings with peers.
13. Is able to improve him-/herself on the basis of feedback and self-reflection.

The report:

1. Complies with academic standards concerning its contents, i.e.

• Is well-structured.
• Includes a background explaining the problem definition and an overview of prior knowledge.
• Includes one or more research questions, the relevance of which follows logically from the background.
• For each research questions clearly describes the experimental and methodological approach.
• Clearly and objectively describes the results, including measurement errors.
• Includes a discussion section, in which results are interpreted against hypotheses and rival claims of other researchers, strengths and weakness are reported, and appropriate conclusions are drawn.
• Correctly includes references to literature supporting claims wherever appropriate.

2. Complies with academic standards concerning style and layout, i.e.

• Is grammatically well-written.
• Includes tables and figures to summarize important findings.
• Uses layout to emphasize the structure of the paper and important claims.

3. Demonstrates a capacity to work systematically.
4. Demonstrates a capacity to reflect on strengths and weaknesses of the study, and the interpretation of the results.
5. Is transparent and as concise as possible.
