Radboud Honours Academy and sustainability
From 2 May – 11 July 2022 the Radboud Honours Academy is organizing an Honours lab (in Dutch) on co-determination for plants and animals on the Radboud Campus.
Co-determination for plants and animals on the Radboud Campus
Just like the rest of the Netherlands, the Radboud Campus is suffering from a loss of biodiversity. We are now in the 6th wave of extinction and science agrees that this is largely caused by humans. Doesn't that entail a certain responsibility to human beings to conserve and protect nature?
Radboudumc and Radboud University value the interaction between people and nature. Sometimes we seem to have forgotten that humans are part of nature and this is perhaps the main cause of the problems surrounding biodiversity and climate change. Awareness of this is in line with research and education at the university. Thus, the aim of this honours lab is to conduct research and provide well-founded advice about the possibilities, opportunities and obstacles to granting rights to nature on campus. This advice will be presented to the Sustainability Program Council of Radboud University and the Sustainability Board of Radboudumc. It will then be used as advice to the Executive Board of Radboud University and the Board of Directors of Radboudumc.
This honours lab is interdisciplinary and combines insights from different scientific disciplines, among others ecology, anthropology, philosophy, law, medicine and management.

The application deadline for this honours lab is 18 April 2022. You can read more or apply on the website of the Radboud Honours Academy.
